As I find myself navigating the world of publishing, I review many blogs and promo websites to post information about my book. but I have never enjoyed the communication process as much as I enjoyed working on this interview with a fellow writer Rita Lee Chapman.

Rita: This week it is my pleasure to interview Nemetra X1369. Would you please introduce yourself to my readers and share something about your life.
Me: People say I have a strange pen name. It is weird, I suppose. But also unique. I am a Real Fiction Writer who loves exploring real-life facts framed into unusual fiction stories. I travelled and lived all over the world, but currently settling in London with my family.
When did you write your first book and how did it come about?
I have always loved to write. Mostly poems. But a few years back, I dreamt of a book, which I decided to write. When it was finished, the book frightened me because it was such ‘raw emotion on paper’. I don’t think I expected it to come out so dark. I wasn’t ready. So I destroyed it.
Normal Weird is my second written book and first published book. This is the story which had to be told.
Do you always write in the same genre or do you mix it up?
My style is always a mix of two genres. Real human stories and sci-fi or fantasy fiction. The unmixable mix.
When you write, do you start with an idea and sit down and let it evolve, or do you make notes and collect ideas on paper beforehand?
I definitely start with an idea. A couple of words. Possibly they become the title. And then I let my mind wander and create the narrative.
Would you like to give us a short excerpt from one of your books?
‘Time stood still. This new dimension was dark and vast. Endless. The emptiness of this space was profound and hollow. The infinity was incontestable – a statement of fact that could not be explained.
It was the most unusual place that any human could ever envisage. Finding himself here, without knowing how it had come to pass, you would have expected Robert to be freaking out. But in this dimension, there was no fear. None of the usual human emotions were present. Perhaps because there was nothing to question, nothing to analyse, nothing to comprehend. A completely blank space where no new thoughts could come into being. Only memories. Detailed and vivid memories, impossible to escape, replaying endlessly like a movie on a continuous loop. The long-forgotten yet familiar picture imposed no judgement, no sentiment, and no opportunity to rewrite the script. All you could do was to be aware of the story.
Limitless time and endless memories. What do you do with it? You watch.’
NORMAL WEIRD. Robert’s Truth – Turmoil, chapter 6
Who is your favourite character and why?
Dr Biote. He is crazy, and he knows it. His vision is uncompromisable, and it allows him to deliver the impossible. His madness and genius walk hand in hand. He is also kind of fun.
Which of your books gave you the most pleasure to write?
I love writing my books, all of them. The ones I don’t absolutely love writing remain unfinished.
But the feeling of devotion to each book is different and provokes different emotions in me. Normal Weird wouldn’t let me sleep, many of its paragraphs were written somewhere between me being asleep and awake. It is a story which had to be told, and it used me to tell itself. I really enjoyed discovering where this story would lead me.
What is the best marketing tip you have received?
Prepare your Author profile in advance. Of course, I didn’t follow the advice 😉, and now I feel overwhelmed with the media requirements.
How would you describe yourself?
So hum… I just am. Trying to live in the moment and not define my existence with one thing or another.
What do you do when you are not writing or reading?
Work, spend quality family time (quality for me is in simple things, just being together), travel (when I can), do yoga, meet friends, watch TV selectively, live.
If you could holiday anywhere in the world, where would you choose and why?
Spain. I left my heart in Barcelona.
If you have owned pets, do you have a funny story you would like to share with us?
My cat has an interesting strategy to wake me up. She sticks her pows under the blanket and tickles my toes. And when I am awake and grumpy, she makes the most innocent face I can’t resist. She always gets what she wants.
What is the biggest factor for you when selecting a book to read?
I love books which make me question things. The intriguing blurb at the back is definitely what sells books for me. Science fiction and fantasy are my favourite genres, however I am keen to read anything that calls me.
Do you have your own website?
Yes! It is terrible though. I am currently revisiting the design with my new developer. My previous developer was totally useless. It’s ok, I can say this because my previous developer was me 😉
P.S. The current version of my blog is fabulous, thanks to a professional developer Marina.
Are you working on a new book at the moment?
Yes. It should be published sometime next year. It is a Fantasy meets Self-help. Very exciting story – dark and twisted, but no need to fear…
